A practical perspective on the how, where, why, and when to use friction management, and some of the realistic considerations and logistics that need to be considered. The presentation will briefly cover some fundamentals on wheel-rail interaction (contact mechanics and tribology) to place friction management in context, followed by practical examples and case studies that illustrate both successes and challenges.
