Biography: Ralph Schorr is Senior Product Development Engineer for Amsted Rail® in Granite City, IL. Amsted’s Product Engineering department is responsible for developing truck suspension systems for the heavy haul freight car/wagon markets domestically and internationally. Ralph has performed dynamic simulations utilizing the Vampire® software for wagon/bogie design applications in China, Ukraine, Russia, Brazil, India and Australia over the last eleven (11) years.

Ralph Schorr spent his first 12 years of his railroad career as Project Engineer and Manager of Engineering in the Automotive Products Group for Thrall Car Manufacturing Company. He participated in the development of the several new multi-level freight car developments for shipping finished automobiles, vans, and trucks by rail. Ralph led the Engineering Department which supported the continuous production of multi-level Autoracks on multiple production lines at different plant locations for eight (8) years.

Ralph has 33 years of engineering experience with 26 years of this in the railroad industry. Ralph has participated in product development through-out his career and developed railroad components resulting in 14 issued USA patents as inventor or co-inventor and the associated international patents.

Ralph has a BSCE from the University of Cincinnati, an MBA from the College of William and Mary and is a registered Professional Engineer in Ohio, Michigan and Georgia.
