EHugh Saurenman

Biography: Hugh Saurenman is president of ATS Consulting, an engineering firm that specializes in noise and vibration studies for rail projects. He has been performing noise and vibration studies for rail related projects for over 35 years. These projects range from Environmental Impact Studies, to final design of mitigation measures, to addressing problems such a wheel squeal on existing transit systems.
Starting in 2012 he has led an effort to use onboard noise measurements to optimize the rail grinding efforts on the BART system. This has proven to be valuable to addressing a serious rail corrugation problem on the BART system.
Hugh is a registered mechanical engineer in California and Washington State and has Ph.D. in mechanical engineering.
