Biography
Andreas Oberhauser
Senior Manager
Global Rail Consulting
Biography: Andreas Oberhauser is Senior Manager for Global Rail Consulting, where he is responsible for railway infrastructure consulting focusing on urban rail networks.
Prior to that he worked at Wiener Linien for 14 years in various positions including Head of the Permanent Way Department, a position he held until moving to Global Rail Consulting. During his career at Wiener Linien, Andreas had responsibility for track measurement cars, track inspection, R&D projects, rail grinding, tamping, and planning. He also oversaw R&D projects and innovation processes; noise and vibration abatement of tram and metro tracks, and the condition of bridges, tunnels, and buildings.
Andreas is involved in scientific / railway associations, including ÖVG (Österreichische Verkehrswissenschaftliche Gesellschaft), where he is Secretary of the Board, and the Rail Technology Cluster of Austria, where he leads a working group on railways and the environment.
He is a lecturer at TU Wien, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Institute of Railway Engineering, Traffic Economics & Roadways, where he was a research fellow, postdoctoral Associate, and is currently a lecturer on Railway Maintenance. He has been a lecturer at other institutions on engineering and environmental technology, and predictive railway maintenance and lifecycle management, as well.
Andreas holds a PhD in Civil Engineering MSc in Land Engineering and Environmental Management from TU Wien, Institute of Railway Engineering, and a master’s degree in Land Engineering and Environmental Management from the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences (BOKU) in Vienna, where his thesis addressed Rock Mechanics in Railway Engineering.
