Bill Moorehead

Biography: Bill Moorhead started his career in the railroad industry with Kershaw Manufacturing Co., in 1959. Starting as a draftsman, he was promoted to Chief Engineer in 1967. Bill then pursued his interests in design consulting and marketing, with D. W. Hallberg Co. as a manufacturer’s representative and then as General Manager of Swedish Rail System AB’s American branch. He founded Iron Horse Engineering Co. in 1985, a rep firm, originally, but in 1989 started designing and producing proprietary products for the rail transit market, such as the PIP-Fast top-down track construction jig system and Rail Boot for embedded track. He is active in AREMA, TRB and APTA committee work; Bill serves now on AREMA Committee 12 and is Chair of the ad hoc Stray Current sub-committee, and is a Member Emeritus of TRB Committee AR055 Rail Transit Infrastructure.
