Rob Lambert
Senior Business Manager, Institute of Railway Technology
Biography: Rob Lambert is the Senior Business Manager at the Monash Institute of Railway Technology based in Melbourne, Australia. IRT is Australia's premier track and vehicle railway research centre in Australia, with an international reputation for excellence in railway research. IRT is one of the main technology service providers to heavy haul-railway operations and leading mass transit railway systems, and provides a "one-stop" technology access point for the international railway industry. IRT evolved from BHP's Melbourne Research Laboratories &8220;MRL&8221; in January 2000, and together with its predecessor has been advancing the railway industry through technology for over 45 years.
Rob joined IRT in May 2019 to manage the delivery of projects, business development and augment expertise in track. Prior to this, he worked at British Steel and its predecessors for 13 years, managing product development and academic links for the rail division, and quality control in casting and steelmaking.
Rob holds a MPhys together with an MSc in Advanced Engineering Metals; is a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining; and previously contributed to AREMA Committee 4.
