Biography
Biography: Marcus Dersch is a Principal Research Engineer within the Rail Transportation and Engineering Center (RailTEC) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Illinois). He obtained his bachelor’s and Master’ degrees in Civil Engineering from UIUC in 2009 and 2010, respectively. Marcus started working at RailTEC in 2011 and obtained his Professional Engineer’s License in 2015. He is the current Vice-Chairman of Committee 30 (Ties) and has research interests in railway crosstie and fastener design and railroad ballast performance.
