Briony Croft
Associate Consultant
Biography:
Briony Croft’s rail noise and vibration experience includes research in Europe on EU funded collaborative rail noise research projects. She has consulted in Australia on the noise impacts of freight and passenger rail projects, from modifications to existing infrastructure through to planning and design of new rail lines. Since 2014 she has been based in Vancouver, Canada, providing noise and vibration advice to clients locally and further afield. Her current work involves working collaboratively with several North American rail transit agencies to understand and mitigate issues related to noise, vibration, rail roughness growth and corrugation development.
Briony holds a mechanical engineering degree from the University of New South Wales, and a PhD from the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research at the University of Southampton. Her doctorate research in railway contact mechanics investigated corrugation development mechanisms, a fundamental source of railway noise and vibration.
