Abstract:
Use of Simulation Modeling to solve Vehicle/Track Interaction Problems
This course will show how vehicle dynamics and train dynamics simulation models can be used to solve an array of vehicle track interaction problems. The speaker will illustrate the various models used in the rail industry such as VAMPIRE, SIMPACK, NUCARS, TOS, TOES and QLTS. The required input data and type of outputs from the models will be shown. Validation testing will also be discussed. The use of the models to study curve elevation, spiral length, geometry parameters, rolling contact fatigue, rail lubrication, will be shown, along with selected case studies.
